Last few days of my 14 day sojourn, Zurich is a very expensive city so I needed to be careful, booked a room at the lovely Hotel Platzhirsch (http://www.meinplatzhirsch.ch/) when you look at the prices of anything in Switzerland this hotel was a bargain. Zurich is a lovely town located on a beautiful lake with old and new all around. Did a bike tour and hit the jackpot with “BRUNO”(http://www.toptrek.ch/), met him at the main train station along with another couple from Australia… Had an amazing tour of Zurich along with 4 hrs of political, cultural, botanical & personal info from our amazing guide. Saw several hardy souls jumping in the lake & swimming… & in bikinis & speedos no less!! E!ven our guide said it’s too cold still. Did the Swiss lunch thing & grabbed a sausage/wurst… Wrapped in a piece of parchment type paper… A dollop of mustard on a little 3×4″ paper ‘plate’.. & a round brown roll on the side. Our final day was a tour and visit to Lucerne and mt Riga, booked this through Viator(www.viator.com/) as it was cheaper and saved time. Scenery was all we could hope for rode a; cable car to Mt Riga, cogwheel train & boat eventually docking in Lucerne- had time to see the oldest covered wooden bridge in Europe & walked the wall around part of Lucerne. Switzerland is a beautiful country with lots of scenery and history but is very taxing on your wallet.
